Labyrinth is a college ministry for local college students and is supported by several churches in the University area. Labyrinth is a progressive Christian community that is LGBTQ-friendly, racially inclusive and open to all students, whether atheist, questioning, or devout. University Christian is proud to be a continuing sponsor of this mission, and invites interested students to contact Rev. Amelia Fulbright at firstname.lastname@example.org or through the Labyrinth website.
I appreciate Labyrinth because it's a loving place where all the pieces of who I am are happily accepted.
The community is fun and faithful and where I can be free from stress.
Progressive Student Worship – Sundays @ 6 PM in the annex of University Baptist Church near the corner of Guadalupe St. & 22nd
Worship is designed specifically for students, and looks like a worship-bible study hybrid. We sing, pray, study Scriptures and other ancient texts to discover how their wisdom is relevant to our daily lives, with an emphasis on group discussion and participation.
Meditation Group – Often Tuesdays @ 5pm in the Lounge at University Christian Church – but check the Labyrinth website for official details!
Meditation is really just a fancy word for prayer that is focused on listening to God, rather than talking. Regular meditation is also proven to help manage stress and relieve depression. We practice several kinds of meditation during the semester, including breath prayers, walking the Labyrinth, centering prayer, guided imagery, and more. The group meets for ~45 min. each week, and it’s especially for beginners!
Starbucks Happy Hour – Traditionally on Thursdays from 5-6 pm at the UT SAC, but again check the Labyrinth website as this can change
During the school year we will be hanging out and sharing drinks to take a much-needed break from our busy schedules. Stop by for a free drink and catch up with other Labyrinthians.
Bible Study – Check Labyrinth website for details on when and where Bible Studies meet!
